Lauren Shaffer

Lauren Shaffer is a Graduate Assistant Fellow for the Office of Student Engagement at Claremont Graduate University. Prior to her time at CGU, Lauren served as an intern for the United Nations within the Department of Economic and Social Affairs. She is the President of the United Nations Association of the Claremont Colleges, a campus organization emphasizing the work of the United Nations by focusing on community and student engagement. Lauren plans to transition to an undergraduate teaching role within the field of international studies upon graduation.
Lauren holds a bachelor’s degree in government and religion from Smith College. She is completing her PhD in international studies at Claremont Graduate University.

Jacinta Chen

Jacinta Chen is Secretary of the UNA Chapter at the Claremont Colleges and a senior at Pomona College, where she is double-majoring in Politics and History. Elected to Phi Beta Kappa as a junior, she is currently writing a thesis on fifteenth-century inter-Asian connections. Jacinta serves as a captain of the Pomona-Pitzer Varsity Women’s Tennis Team, a student liaison for the Politics Department, a staff writer for The Claremont Journal of International Relations, a college advisor for the Pomona College Academy for Youth Success, and a committee member for the Associated Students of Pomona College.
In addition to interning for the Asia Society Policy Institute in New York, she has conducted research on city implementation of the SDGs and volunteered for UNICEF as well as the UN SDG Action Campaign. With interests in international law and diplomacy, Jacinta is excited to promote the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development across the 7Cs and collaborate with the Pomona Valley Chapter.
